As a project manager, I was responsible in leading the daily meetings, reporting the progress to the facilitators, and creating the backlog to monitor the team’s progress.

For my second group project at Apple Developer Academy I made an app called Okoa. Okoa is an app that helps kindergarten students (3-6 years old) to gain fine motor skill, stimulates creativity and encourages self-expression by a simple yet fun colouring app. Parents are ought to accompany their children while using this app to teach them some basic things to do in the app. This app has a feature that lets them to color the drawings provided using their creativity and after they finish it, they can touch their masterpiece and the image will return feedback which is vibration & sound based on the image. After that, there will also be a mini quiz to test whether they remember the sound of each object that they have colored.
The reason why my team and I choose the coloring activity is that due to not being able to read and write at this age our target end-user rely more on visual material to establish communication. Thus color is an important tool of expression for them.
From the interview, my team and I learned that children most favorite activity is coloring. They enjoy coloring a lot. We also learned few things from our desk research; There’s a simple activity that helps children to develop cognitively, psychologically and creatively: coloring. They love to do it anyway, and it could lead to a healthier, happier life in adolescence and into adulthood.
The choices of colour from the design are bright colors. This is because based on the research, young children are attracted to bright colors.
I took a UI/UX designer role for this challenge. I also took a role as Project Manager for this challenge. I’ve been wanting to try to be a Project Manager. Since it’s my first time, I feel quite worried but excited at the same time. Thanks to the group mentors that guide me throughout the process and my fellow teammates that support me in doing this role, I could learn a lot from this PM role. While being a PM, my job is to create a backlog and maintain the team works and progress on track.
As a designer, I’m in charge of designing the coloring page. However, eventually, I’m also in charge in designing the Onboarding page and finished coloring page.
